Office of Equity and Title IX

Here to Support You

At the University of Redlands, we welcome, educate, and empower a diverse community of learners for lives of meaning, impact, and joy. In support of that mission, we ensure equal access to University activities and programs. That begins with a campus environment that is safe and respectful. We are committed to equality of opportunity and maintaining an academic environment and workplace that is free from discrimination, harassment, sexual misconduct, and retaliation.

The Office of Equity & Title IX exists to support all students and employees in building a culture of mutual respect, protection, and safety. Prevention is key, and we educate, train, and empower our community to protect themselves and each other. We have awareness campaigns, bystander intervention training, advocacy resources, and peer support networks.

Where misconduct occurs, the Office of Equity & Title IX enforces our misconduct policies through prompt and fair investigations. If discrimination, harassment, sexual misconduct, or retaliation is found to have occurred, we ensure the behavior stops, does not reoccur, and we impose disciplinary measures and take other appropriate steps to remedy the impacts of misconduct.

We know that navigating questions and concerns about discrimination, harassment, sexual misconduct, and retaliation is challenging. These can be difficult subjects and reaching out for support is not easy. Still, we welcome the opportunity to hear from you and encourage you to reach to us at any time. The members of our team of approachable, relational, and understanding. We listen and we can help you with resources or connecting with the right office, whatever your needs.

What is Title IX?

Title IX is a federal law that says no one should face sex discrimination in any in-person or online school program or activity, including academics, athletics, and campus life. That includes things like:

  • Sexual assault, harassment or misconduct
  • Pregnancy accommodations
  • Gender-based discrimination

If something doesn’t feel right, or you just want to talk, you’ve got options and support.

What is Equity?

Equity means ensuring that all students, staff, and faculty - regardless of race, color, national origin, gender, disability, age, marital status, sexual orientation or other legally-protected characteristic—have fair and equal access to education, services, and opportunities.

The University of Redlands (and all institutions receiving federal funds) is prohibited from discriminating on the basis of any legally-protected characteristic.

This includes:

  • Equal access to academic programs and student services
  • Protection from racial harassment or discrimination
  • Inclusive treatment across campus

Equity is more than compliance—it’s our commitment to creating a respectful, welcoming, and fair environment for everyone.
