What is a Master of Arts in Education: School Counseling degree?

The Master of Arts in Education: School Counseling program provides preparation for school service, as students learn not only counseling and consultation skills but also how to build helping relationships. The program curriculum meets all standards required for the Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) School Counseling Credential, as authorized by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC).

Why the Master of Arts in Education: School Counseling degree at Redlands?

University of Redlands School of Education trains California's future school counselors not only to become empathetic and responsible advocates for students but also to develop a deep and holistic understanding of the role that educational justice plays within the field of school and college counseling. Our curriculum nurtures a deep awareness of the ways social and economic structures alter educational opportunities. You'll learn to incorporate this knowledge into traditional school counseling techniques through our robust curriculum. Meanwhile, the fieldwork component of the program will further equip you with the confidence and practical experience needed to step immediately into your career and provide meaningful care and service to students.

Fieldwork

Fieldwork plays a vital role in helping students gain hands-on experience, build professional networks, and develop a strong professional identity. The School of Education maintains a robust connection with the community and is always seeking to expand partnerships.
