Fall 2026 Auditions, Conservatory of Music
University Orchestra (MUSI 131/631)
String players who would like to audition for University Orchestra will audition on Tuesday, September 1 between 10:50am and 12:40pm.
Students will be asked to perform the excerpts provided by the conductor, Prof. Co Nguyen; you can obtain the excerpts and direct any questions to Co_Nguyen@redlands.edu

Wind Ensemble (MUSI 138/638)
All auditions are in the Valencia Room (University Hall). All times approximate. Arrive early and be ready to perform early.
Prepare something lyrical and something technical unless you have been assigned specific repertoire by your studio teacher.
Try to sign up for the designated studio times below. If you can't make the instrument specific times, choose one in the Overflow block.

- 2:30PM - 5:50PM Clarinets (and overflow)
- Tuesday Sept. 1
- 11:00AM - 2:30PM Flutes and Double Reeds (and overflow)

- 9:00AM - 1:00PM Saxophones (and overflow)
- 2:30PM - 4:00PM Percussion
- 4:00PM - 5:50 PM FIRST REHEARSAL (Wind Ensemble)
Note to students: The overflow spots are to be used when you are unable to choose an audition time listed for your instrument because of class conflict.
Unless you have been assigned specific audition material by your studio teacher, plan to play contrasting excerpts from a solo and/or etude(s) that show your technical and lyrical playing abilities.

University Choir (MUSI 111/611) and Chapel Singers (MUSI 112/612)
Choral auditions will be held on August 31 through September 4. Times are available between 11:00am and 12:50pm each day. You will be asked to sing a prepared selection of your choice and do some sight singing. There is an online audition form and an online scheduling form; both are available here:

Opera Workshop (MUSI 110/610)
Opera Workshop meets on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and the 2026-2027 production is Marriage of Figaro. Students interested in Opera Workshop should contact Prof. Cindy Snyder at cindy_snyder@redlands.edu.
Studio Big Band (MUSI 136/636)
All horn players will audition on Tuesday, September 1 during class time (4:05-5:50). Rhythm Section players will audition on Thursday, September 3 during class time (4:05-5:50).
Auditions will take place in Valencia Room in University Hall. It is recommended that students prepare a jazz etude, solo, or transcription.
