About Elizabeth Shulterbrandt
Elizabeth Shulterbrandt serves as the Assistant Director of Native Student Programs, Outreach and Access for Native Student Programs. She is originally from the U.S. Virgin Islands of mixed Black and White heritage. Elizabeth has had the privilege of working in the field of Native education access since 2012 in both sides - high school access and collegiate recruitment/retention efforts.
Since starting at Redlands in 2018, Elizabeth has held the positions of Department Coordinator and the Assistant Director of Retention and Success for Native Student Programs. Previously, she has worked in Native education and education access for marginalized groups at Pitzer College, where she served as both the Assistant Director of the Native Youth to College Program and as a Community Coordinator for the Community Engagement Center.
Elizabeth is currently a Doctoral candidate in Leadership for Educational Justice at the University of Redlands. She holds a master’s degree in American Indian Studies from the University of Arizona, a certificate in Working in Tribal Communities from UCLA, and received her BA in Political Science from Scripps College. Her Ed.D. dissertation focuses on how and why Native American and Latinx students use Community Cultural Wealth values as they navigate their college experience.
