About the program

We launched the Experiential Learning Partnership (ELP) program in 2008 to connect Presidio graduate students with mission-driven organizations through hands-on, semester-long projects. These partnerships allow students to apply their learning in real time while delivering strategic and functional value to clients. Presidio teams support a wide range of needs through courses in Marketing and Communications for Social Impact, Operations and Supply Chain Management, and Strategy for Sustainability. Clients consistently receive more value than they expect from the ELP experience.

They're helping us to formulate a go-to-market strategy as part of the full business. We are so pleased that we asked for another project next semester.”

Examples of past Experiential Learning projects

Each project is a vital extension of the student’s academic experience—and a powerful opportunity for organizations to benefit from fresh insight and practical solutions.

Energy Management Program

Presidio students supported their client in understanding how to best use available resources to achieve a 20 percent increase in energy efficiency and 100 percent System engagement across all programs worldwide by 2020. This led to the development of a comprehensive strategy for the client’s Energy Management program.

Cloud-Based Strategy

Presidio students supported their client with exploring a cloud-based, impact-giving platform business opportunity to bridge the gap between the social impact of technology and civic engagement through wireless mobile devices. The Presidio team performed an in-depth strategic analysis evaluating whether a new proposed product line would be financially viable and provide the intended social impact.

Mission-Based K–12 Education

A mission-based K-12 school wanted to understand how to create a visionary, replicable model for a sustainable school that persists through multiple generations of administration, faculty, and students. The presidio team provided their client with recommendations for organizational structures as well as educational curricula.

Good Food Purchasing Program

Presidio students partnered with the Los Angeles Food Policy Council (LAFPC) to develop a strategic plan to help the LAFPC structure and expand its Good Food Purchasing Program (GFPP).

Strategy Analysis To Double Revenue

Presidio students performed a strategic analysis of a client organization to provide a strategic recommendation to best fit the owner’s financial goal of doubling revenue instead of a potential business acquisition. The plan also provided an objective basis for achieving greater social and environmental responsibility for the organization.

New Programs And Service Offerings

Presidio students supported a client interested in expanding its business and social value by adding new programs and service offerings. The Presidio team performed an analysis of several proposed programs and service offerings and geographical launch parameters for the programs. The recommendations focused on maximizing the social and financial value the company could create from a new offering.
